Dr. Craig Harper is a Professor of Wildlife Management and the Extension Wildlife Specialist at The University of Tennessee. Dr. Harper is responsible for developing wildlife management programs for UT Extension and assisting extension agents, wildlife agency professionals, and landowners with matters concerning wildlife throughout the state. Dr. Harper is a Certified Wildlife Biologist® and Certified Prescribed Fire Manager and maintains an active research program, specializing in upland habitat management. Current research projects are investigating the effects of timber stand improvement practices and regeneration methods on habitat for white-tailed deer and wild turkeys, quality deer management strategies, hunter satisfaction, white-tailed deer movements, the effects of timing and frequency of prescribed fire, grazing strategies for early successional songbirds, and various food plot management strategies. Dr. Harper has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed extension and research publications, including 2 books on managing early successional wildlife habitat and food plots. Brian Murphy is a wildlife biologist and the Chief Executive Officer of the Quality Deer Management Association. He has written more than a hundred popular and scientific articles and given more than five hundred lectures on deer biology and management. Brian holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in wildlife management and has been involved in deer research and management throughout the U.S. and the South Pacific for more than twenty years.
