Good mulch stimulates microbial activity, helps alleviate soil compaction, regulates soil temperature, and breaks down over time.establishing a barrier between tree roots and mulch is contrary to proper arborculturial procedures.
Thanks for your comment. It is an important point that you are making. The mulch we make is pervious. In other words it allows the water to pass through even though the fibers have locked together. Our plants have demonstrated above average drought tolerance with this mulch spread around them. Is that what you were wanting to make sure of? If so rest assured this mulch is great for plants and trees. I always suggest fertilizing the plants when you put down new mulch due to the fact that mulch uses up some nitrogen. Even so, the ISA says that mulch is trees best friend.
