Customers Review our Tree Service – Lots of VIDEOS

Tiger is a local Deputy Sheriff.  What a nice guy! He was nice enough to hire us to do his trees and then refer a friend. Then he did this testimonial. Thanks Tiger. You’re Great! :) Play the video and he will tell you about Tree Crews himself.

Mrs. Scott is great. Her neighbors love her, and she is fair and reasonable to work for.

Mr. Marrow is a neat guy. If you ever want to go diving, this is the guy for you. He’s a banker by day and a diver at heart. He charters a 140 foot boat and goes to the most beautiful places in the world.

Dedee is really nice and she is a work-out pro. She lives about 2 miles from our office and we are about to do our 3rd project for her and Matthew. This video is from the second job we did.

Mrs. Hook has been one of our customers for over 10 years. One on the most interesting things she told me is that she has also been a life long friend of the von Trapp family. Most of us know of them from the  movie The Sound of Music. Did you know that some of the grand children continued to sing after their grand parents. I thought that was interesting when she told me that. After that, I visited her at her home in Marietta. I handled the tree service needs of her late son as well. He was a peaceful soul. Anyway, see what she has to say about TreeCrews.com (a division of Risk Management Disaster Service Inc.)

With over 9,000 customers, there are a lot more references. It just takes me a while to get them posted.

Here is what Mr Swymer had to say.

I recently contracted Tree Crews to do some basic restoration of my property.  We are having a wedding in July and I want everything to look its best.  William and his crew showed up on time and completed the job on budget.  William and his Team went above and beyond the call of duty and made the entire property shine.  They took care to hand prune most of the landscaping to ensure that our original investment was protected.  They left the property clean and checked with us before leaving to make sure they satisfied our request.

I cannot believe the results of having true professionals look after a very substantial investment in landscaping!  I would recommend this Team to anyone that wants the best of the best.

Thanks again,

Robert Swymer

Tree Trimming

A Beautiful Pine Tree we trimmed and beautified on Lochinvar Golf Course located in Houston Texas. We trimmed 700 trees besides this one. We became preferred vendors after this job for the Jack Nicklaus Design Group who were the designers of this golf course.

Below are some examples of different approaches to trimming your tree.  It helps to be able to describe the service you want in detail.  I hope this helps. To skip straight to getting an estimate click here.

  • Trim Tree- Away from the House

Our crews follow a standard trim process that leaves the tree clear of touching the house. Typically 5 to 10 feet of clearance will keep your house clear for at least 3 to 5 years, if not more.  Most of the time trees will look their best from one particular viewing point.  We try to make the best choice over all.

  • Trim Tree – Away from Driveway

When we trim trees our crews follow a standard trim process that leave the tree clear of the DRIVEWAY SO THERE IS CLEARENCE FOR CARS AND TRUCKS. Typically 13 to 15 feet of clearance will keep access to your driveway clear for at least 2 to 3 years if not more.  Most of the time trees will look their best from one particular viewing point.  We try to make the best choice over all.

  • Trim Tree  FOR LIGHT ON GRASS leave some limbs for shape.

This tree will be trimmed by cutting some of the limbs that are blocking the light below.  Some limbs will remain that may block some of the light but this is to allow the tree to maintain some shape, although it will not be the original shape.

  • Trim Tree- Raise Canopy

When we trim trees our crews follow a standard trim process that leave the tree reasonably balanced.  Meaning that the limbs are trimmed up the trunk to the about the same height from the ground. Most of the time trees will look their best from one particular viewing point.  We try to make the best choice over all. If the tree is against the house we may trim the house side differently.

  • Deadwood Tree – Cut out dead major limbs from tree.

This referrs to the major dead wood in a tree. Typically 3″ diameter and larger.  But we can trim as small as 2″ or 1″ in diameter if that is requested. Some limbs may be to small or hazardous to reach.

  • Trim Tree- Away Broken Debris in Tree.

Take broken debris out of tree.

  • Trim Tree- Raise Canopy 2″ to 4″ Diameter this is a very small tree.

A standard trim process that leave the tree reasonably balanced.  Meaning that the limbs are trimmed up the trunk to the about the same height from the ground.

  • Trim Tree- Raise Canopy to drive under

The limbs will be trimmed high enough to allow trucks and equipment to drive under the tree with out hitting the lower branches.  are trimmed up the trunk to the about the same height from the ground.  FedEx trucks, for example, are less than 13′ feet  2″ inches tall so if we trim to at least 15 feet all street legal trucks will be clear.  If you desire a higher trim that will need to be specified and noted in the area above this general description.

  • Trim Tree – Beautification Trimming

We will prune the inside of the tree so that it looks the best it can.  The methods used are called “interior thinning” and “directional pruning”  This allows the tree to grown for many years with out creating another trimming expense.  It usually last 5 to 7 years. We will also get any major dead wood in the tree. Not little stuff but any large limbs. The tree will be encouraged to grow as properly as possible.

  • Trim Tree – View Improvement

This tree(s) will be trimmed or pruned in order to improve a view to a certain area or thing.  A viewing point is an area you look from. So the process always begins by designing the view from that point of view.

  • Trim Tree – Away from Building

This kind of tree is trimmed in a manner that will clear the tree  of touching the structure. Typically 5 to 10 feet of clearance will keep your building clear for at least 3 to 5 years if not more.  Most of the time trees will look their best from one particular viewing point.  We try to make the best choice over all.

  • Trim Tree – Away from Power Lines

We will trim trees in a way that will  leave the tree clear of touching the POWER LINES. Typically 5 to 10 feet of clearance will keep your LINES clear for at least 3 to 5 years if not more.  Most of the time trees will look their best from one particular viewing point.  We try to make the best choice over all.

  • Trim Tree – Away from Deck

When we trim trees our crews follow a standard trim process that leave the tree clear of the deck. We usually provide

  • Trim Tree – Away from adjacent TREE

Typically trimming a tree with 4 to 10 feet of clearance will be enough. If you want more you should tell us before the crew arrives.  This should allow for 3 to 5 years of growth if not more.  Most of the time trees will look their best from one particular viewing point.  We try to make the best choice over all.

  • Trim Tree – Away from adjacent TREE Minor raise for separation of canopy.

Typically 2 to 3 feet of clearance will be enough. If you want more you should tell us before the crew arrives.  This should allow for 2 to 3 years of growth if not more.  Most of the time trees will look their best from one particular viewing point.  We try to make the best choice over all.

  • Trim Tree – Away from adjacent SHRUBS. Minor raise for separation of canopy.

Typically 1 to 2 feet of clearance will be enough. If you want more you should tell us before the crew arrives.  This should allow for 2   years of growth if not more.  Most of the time trees will look their best from one particular viewing point.  We try to make the best choice over all.

  • Trim Tree – Bradford Pear – Structure Reduction and Interior thin

This process is for the purpose of improving the tree’s ability to allow the air to pass through the branches and reduce the weight of some of the co-dominate branches.  Our goal is to keep the tree’s natural shape as much as possible, while improving its ability to withstand splitting or breakage.

  • Trim Tree – Bradford Pear – Structure Reduction and Interior thin. Raise so you can walk under tree and trim.

This process is for the purpose of improving the tree’s ability to allow the air to pass through the branches and reduce some of the weight from the some of the co dominate branches.  Our goal is to keep the trees natural shape as much as possible, while improving its ability to not to split or brake.  Also raise the canopy about 3 to 4 feet.

  • Trim – Bush shape as needed.

The bush(es) that are described here will be shaped and pruned as needed.

  • Trim Tree- Fence Line

Trim the limbs or growth at the fence line.  We will use a pole saw to trim with.

  • Trim Tree  FOR LIGHT ON “POOL”  leave some limbs for shape.

This tree will be trimmed by cutting some of the limbs that are blocking the light below.  Some limbs will remain that may block some of the light but this is to allow the tree to maintain some shape, although it will not be the original shape.

  • Trim Tree – Interior Thin – Trim Tree to compliment adjacent tree(s)

The tree will be trimmed to compliment the surrounding tree or trees. This  will leave the tree with a more park-like appearance.  Revealing the internal structure or natural form that the limbs create as they grow to support the upper canopy.  The tree then provides  a major dominate fixture that can help set the tone for the tree-scape.   We will thin out the small “sucker limbs” from inside of the canopy and remove some less dominate limbs to provide visual access to the interior of the tree.  This is usually a very impressive view. We will leave some that the light can filter to for additional food production. Trim – Interior Thin – Trimming Large Size Tree

  • Trim Tree – Interior Thin – Trimming Large Size Tree

This  will leave the tree with a more park-like appearance.  Revealing the internal structure or natural form that the limbs create as they grow to support the upper canopy.  The tree then provides  a major dominate fixture that can help set the tone for the tree-scape.   We will thin out the small “sucker limbs” from inside of the canopy and remove some less dominate limbs to provide visual access to the interior of the tree.  This is usually a very impressive view. We will leave some that the light can filter to for additional food production.

  • Trim Tree- Interior Thin – Trimming Medium Size Tree

This  will leave the tree with a more park-like appearance.  Revealing the internal structure or natural form that the limbs create as they grow to support the upper canopy.  The tree then provides  a softer inviting view.  We will thin out the small “sucker limbs” from the inside of the canopy. We will leave some that the light can filter to for additional food production. Interior Thin – Trimming Medium Size Tree

  • Trim Tree – Interior Thin – Trimming Small Size Tree

This  will leave the tree with a more manicured appearance.  Revealing the internal structure. This gives small tree a stronger presence in the landscape.  The tree then provides  a bolder inviting view.  We will thin out the small “sucker limbs” from the inside of the canopy. We will leave some that the light can filter to for additional food production.

  • Trim Tree – Mistletoe from tree as specified

We will trim the mistletoe back 18 inches below infected area or as needed. If this is not done then the mistletoe will grow back and the tree will die, period. If you wait and trim the mistletoe out when there is a lot of it in the tree, the tree will look like a bunch of horns sticking up in the air, we refer to these trees as, “Trees of Shame”.  This parasite is feeding off of the vascular system of the tree similar to the way a leech feeds on a persons blood. There may be additional notes below.

  • Trim Tree – Remove sucker Limbs from TRUNK

We will trim the sucker limbs as we climb the tree up to the natural canopy.

  • Trim Tree – Round Over

We will trim the edges of this tree or bush and make the tree nice in appearance.

  • Trim Tree – Shape -These are not going to be perfect.

The item we are shaping is not a well shaped specimen to begin with but we will do our best.

  • Trim Tree- Specific Limbs

This Tree will have a specific number of limbs trimmed and at a specific location.

  • Trim – Spike less

This service is primarily for pine trees.  We will insert a climbing rope up into the top of the tree and the climb the rope without damaging the cambium layer of the tree which could increase the chance of insect attack.  This is a slower method of trimming the tree but its the safest.

  • Trim Tree- Storm Damage

We will trim the trees damaged by the storm according to the color coded trees as marked.

  • Trim Tree – Structural Thinning to Reduce Wind Resistance

We will remove some limbs back to their main branches. This should  keep most of the canopy shape while allowing greater air flow and release through the tree.  The goal is to keep the shape of the tree intact while opening airways through the tree and reducing weight of the main leaders or branches.

  • Trim Tree- Sucker Growth Only

Trim the sucker limbs up to a specific point on the tree.  Not other trimming required.

  • Trim Tree- Sun Spot

One or more tree(s) will be trimmed by cutting some of the limbs that are blocking the light below.  Some limbs will remain that may block some of the light but this will be left to our best judgment. The Idea is to allow some light to illuminate spots in the woods or forest increasing the visual appeal of the natural area. The number of separate sun spots is indicated in the quantity field.

  • Trim Tree- Tree Form

This refers to the way the plant bush or tree will be formed.  This plant/tree has lost its shape and will be given and tree like apearance as a result of the trimming we will do.

  • Trim Tree – View Improvement

This tree(s) will be trimmed or pruned in order to improve a viewing point. A viewing point is an area you look from. See note above for specifics.

  • Trim Tree for Light Below

This tree will be trimmed by cutting some of the limbs that are blocking the light below.  Some limbs will remain that may block some of the light but this is to allow the tree to maintain some shape, although it will not be the original shape.

  • Trim Tree – with pole clippers General

We will use a manually operated  extension pole saw to trim the branches.  This saw has a maximum reach of 14 feet from the ground.  This is for clipping small branches.

  • Trim Tree with Pole Clipper – Interior Cleaning

We will use a manually operated  extension pole saw to trim the branches.  This saw has a maximum reach of 14 feet from the ground.  This is for clipping small branches. We will cut out the reachable dead limbs and any other limbs we deem beneficial.

  • Trim Tree with Pole Saw

We will use a gas powered extension pole saw to trim the branches.  This saw has a maximum reach of 15 feet from the ground

  • Trim Tree with Pole Saw – Lower Dead Wood Removal

Trim lower dead wood that can be reached from the ground using a pole saw without climbing. This saw has a maximum reach of 15 feet from the ground..

What to do when an ICE STORM hits and I have TREE DAMAGE!

Here is what I think would be of immediate interest  to homeowners based on the previous ice storms and natural disasters I have responded to over the last 30 years.

There is an ice storm occurring here in Atlanta at this very moment in the surrounding areas where I live. Canton, Woodstock, Alpharetta, Roswell, Sandy Springs, Peachtree City. Today is 7:28 PM Feb. 12th 2014.  I wrote this during the ice storm  January 11, 2011.  Everything is still true.

If the tree is simply in the yard it is not usually covered.

Trees that fall in the yard are not typically covered by insurance.

Hence I am sitting in Woodstock Georgia and I am about to inform you how to deal with the problems that thousands of you are about to face for perhaps the first time. The storm is moving toward my home over the next few hours.  I am sleepy and that is to your advantage because I will be more concise. For more details read more or call me, William Lombardo or my tree service staff at  770-479-9611.

What do I do if a tree hits my house? How do I get the tree removed without having the insurance company deny paying for it?

Tree falls on house. This is covered by your insurance.

Insurance coverage

  1. Take pictures. This is the most important thing to do. Video works also.
  2. Install tarp if available.
  3. Make a file to put all related communications, the invoice, emails, and photos in one place..
  4. Call your insurance company. If you can reach the insurance company this is what they want to know and WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SURE TO LET THEM KNOW.
    1. If the tree hit anything, fence, house, shed, play set, driveway, deck, window, gutter, retaining wall, steps, etc., They need to know.   Basically if someone constructed it and there is a tree on it, then they need to know is. Coverage can vary, but coverage almost always exist for things like these. You can call or contact us for specific help settling your claim.
    2. Write down your claim number.
    3. Write down the name of who you talk to at the insurance company, record the date and time of every conversation you have with the insurance company. Include brief notes.
    4. Tell them that you want to “ACT IN GOOD FAITH”.  Acting in “GOOD FAITH” this is key to avoiding personally liability and not giving the insurance company a way to deny parts of the claim. I know one lawsuit that won 32 million dollars over the issue of a “BAD FAITH” action on the part of the insurance company. You can lose a some of the coverage if you take no action. That is what is called “BAD FAITH”.
    5. Get the tree removed ASAP so that the insurance company does not say that your lack of taking action resulted in more damage than it would have had to pay for, thereby allowing them to limit your coverage and deny parts of the claim. In some cases a lack of action on your part can result in a “bad faith claim” from the insurance company.  This is not likely if there is no hole in the roof. If there is roof damage then this is an important issue.

How to tell if the tree damage resulting from an ice storm will be covered by the insurance company or not.

    • Was it sudden and accidental? Then YES most likely, see note below.
    • Did the tree fall on a structure? Then Yes its covered.
      • There are some structures that require a special line item to be covered. It is rare to have these left off of the policy.
      • Did the tree fall in an open area of the yard? Then it is very rare that it is covered. Chubb insurance will sometimes cover it but you definitely need to talk to your insurance company. If you take pictures and get your yard cleaned up that is fine.  The tree does not have to be there or be on the house for the insurance company to pay the claim for the tree services to remove the tree, as long as you have the pictures to back up your “claim” . If the tree hit a structure first that is entirely different, that is definitely covered, but there are commonly low limits for debris cleanup.

What most reputable tree services in Atlanta, are willing to do for you.

TreeCrews.com tree service is willing bill the insurance company if you need us to. You typically have to pay the deductible at the time of the tree service. The insurance company will require  a form to be signed authorizing us to be paid directly and stating that the work was completed satisfactorily according to what “you” the insured and TreeCrews.com agreed to.

The other acceptable option which a good tree service should be willing to offer, and I would suggest to the tree service you hire. (I hope it’s TreeCrews.com) I would  require the tree service to bill at least 50% of the cost once the insurance company pays for the claim.  This will prevent you from over paying for emergency tree removal but still get the tree service to remove the tree immediately. Some customers pay TreeCrews.com when the job is completed and that is fine also.

Here is my bio related to ice storms. Locally I managed the cleanup efforts for TreeCrews.com (owned by Risk Management Disaster Service and Tree Service) for the major Atlanta ice storm of 2000 as well as others affecting Nebraska, North Carolina, Kentucky and others I just can’t recall at this time. My storm disaster relief experience goes back to 1979. Our arborist have both served as the president of the Georgia Arborist Association.

Most information that circulates from tree cutters during storm times is, “yes you need to cut down your tree.”

This creates a knee jerk reaction and the loss of a lot of great trees, unnecessary expense, and in some cases an increased risk.   The information will serve the following purposes. We remove and trim trees in the Atlanta Metro area,  With over 8000 local Atlanta clients we have a trusted reputation.

Some other things I will discuss when it’s not 5 AM in the morning.

  1. Educating people to avoid life threatening situations during an ice storm.
  2. How to look at your trees and decide if there are threats to certain bed rooms or living areas of the home.
  3. Explain how to look for easy to see risk conditions.
  4. Prevent the removal of certain “barrier trees” around a house that actually provides protection in an ice storm. Unfortunately these are the most commonly removed trees and they provide the maximum amount of protection for the home.

Some of our equipment.

Before we use heavy equipment on your property to remove or trim your trees we will discuss it and be sure that it is best for your situation. Call us at 770-479-9611.
